Dear Diary 12

Dear Diary,

I haven't written a poem in a long time, but today the spirit moved me. I'm going to give it a try. Maybe i've been inspired by Don and a free spirit butterfly.

Mother
Daughter
Sister
Wife
I am all of the above
Sometimes I feel like my identity gets lost
So busy
Trying to please
Make sure everyone is okay
Do they have what they need?
Someone once said
What about you?
And I became confused
What about me?
What have you done for you lately
They replied
I'm a strong black woman
I can handle it
Pessimist
Optimist
Giver
Taker
I'm all of the above
Knowing the future can be great
But not wanting to get my hopes up
Letting my love go freely
Hoping to get it back in return
To whom much is given
Much is expected
I was given a gift
Strong shoulders
Heavy with burden
Filled with solutions
I’ve got the secret
Never let ‘em see you sweat
The backbone of my people
The ride or die chick
Down for her dude
There with the rifle
When the shotgun’s too light
By any means necessary
I’m a strong black woman
I can handle it
Mother
Daughter
Sister
Wife
I am all of the above
That’s me
Strong black woman
And I got it under control

Yes you do young lady! Your track record speaks for itself. Successful marriage, successful kids and the ability to juggle all that life throws at today's women who wear many hats! An extra bonus is the support of your man as you journey through your passion of writing and expressing yourself. I had someone who was a little envy which caused me to surpress my deepest feelings. You couldn't have picked a better name for yourself and your title will inspire younger black girls to become Strong Black Woman. Each one teach one. If it's been a while since you've written a poem, I can't tell. I bet it would sound awesome at a poetry cafe in the right atmosphere! Much love, the butterfly

PS, You and Don have inspired me as well. You both woke up my creative juices and now I eat, sleep and breathe for my next "post" (lol)

I've always wanted to go to a poetry cafe or slam but i've never been. I don't know if I would actually do a poem, but I would love to go and experience the vibe. I think i'm going to find a place in New York. You've inspired me once again Butterfly.

You're going to love it and then you'll be torn between that and blogging. I was so nervous at first but the applause was such an incredible high and after that I was hooked. I'm shy believe it or not so I bought a Kareoke maching to practice on and starting singing Mary J until the dog started hollering (lol) a poetess maybe, a singer NOT! (smile)

Good morning young lady, Happy Monday (for some of us anyway) I've been trying to go back and read your earlier post and we could be related. We have a lot in common and a lot of past experiences. I hope that you have a fantastic day and I pray that your husband and kids continue to show you love, support and appreciation!
